Tonight I was at the gym working out and I thought… Am I working out because of ONE DAY?  (Ahem, the wedding day)  Or am I working out because I want to be healthy and fit?   I’ve worked out since I was in high school, so it’s nothing new to me, I just wanted to be sure that it’s a lifestyle decision, not a “I’m getting married” decision.

And then I started to think about this “One Day” thing.

So many of us drive ourselves mad while we plan our own weddings!  We start to dislike people, family, paper, details, font, ink, stamps, linens, people, each other!  Oh, and the fact that we DO have a budget!  We look at what others have done and wish we could so the same – BUT BETTER!   But, do we really know what this One Day means?  Do we really know, or do we find out the day after the Big Day?

It just seems like we’ve all gotten lost.  Ok, maybe not all of us.  But many of us.  A wedding is about marriage.

I look at my guy and think, wow.  Forever.  Him. Me.  Unknown number of kids.  Dog.  House.  Love.  Good.  Bad.  Happy.  Sad.  Forever.

I hope it’s forever.  Some of us don’t have forever.  But, that’s what the One Day is about.  It’s about the First Day.  And, you really don’t know when the last day is?  Really, it’s a terrible thought.  But, what I’m trying to say is, that marriage is not about the One Day… it’s about all the days after.

And, I think those days are more important than the One Day.  Don’t ya think?

I want more than One Day.  I want FOREVER!

On a budget (and most of us are) click here to check out inexpensive things to do in the “D” on Valentine’s Day!

You can do that too!  But what I’m talking about here are fresh ideas for Date Night!  As you all know (I’m sure), is that when you’ve been with someone for any length of time, it’s easy to fall into the same old dumb routine!  (I’m quoting the Pina Colada Song here).

Just this morning Kenny and I were talking about re-establishing a date night, but that we need to get away from the norm!  Well, low and behold, we’re not the only ones!  Fiance actually came across this article Fresh, Fun and Sexy Date Ideas on MSN.com.  (How sweet he is to send it to me, right?!)  Check out the article!  There are some great ideas…

Here’s some of my fav’s:

1. Have a DIY dinner. Set up a taco bar with all the fixings or make homemade pizza. “Creating something together is interactive, so it brings you closer,” says relationship therapist Sandra Anne Taylor, author of Act to Attract.

2. Plan wine-tasting excursion and hit a local vineyard to find a new favorite.

(Image Source: Blog.theeastsidelife.com) There's tons of places around Metro Detroit that offer wine tastings... Big Rock Chop House is one of my favorites!

5. Go on an edu-date. Taking classes on anything from Italian to film bonds you and introduces you to new things.  (Kenny just mentioned something like this!)

7. Play around-the-world cocktails. Sample one specialty drink from a wine bar, one from a pub, and another from a Russian vodka room. Take a taxi.

10. Pamper yourselves with a couples massage at a day spa. “It’s a relaxing, sensual experience that can put you in an amorous mood as well,” says Janice Levine, Ph.D., a clinical psychologist in Lexington, Massachusetts.

12. Want to know if you have a future with your guy? Visit a psychic. You don’t have to buy into her predictions, but at least you’ll have a good laugh.

(Image source: Psychic Reading...How fun would that be?

 14. Test your luck at a nearby casino or horse race. Bring only a set amount of cash that you can afford to lose.  (Horse Races would be FUN! )
